Why Am I Doing This?

Who knows why people do things. The truth is, I've visited a bunch of countries/cities in my life, and a select few have made me feel like "hey, I wouldn't mind living in that place for a year". More of a wistful, idle wish than any specific call to action.

Such was Ireland for me in 2013. I went for a little while in advance of John Carroll Weekend for Georgetown in London. Below is proof that actually happened.

Anyhow, commentary aside, I loved it. Loved it and connected with it in a way that I knew I'd return some day.

I never thought I'd have the opportunity to actually live and work there-- and hey, visa stuff's still happening right now, so maybe this post will look foolish-- but once I finally got up the cojones to go for it, I just went with it.

So, starting July 1, 2019, I'm spending time in the emerald isle. Doing a bit of a social media/video game detox, taking a bit of time off, but plan to post on this blog at least once a week or so. Plan to do more reading, local travel, stuff I'd always say I wanted to do but not actually follow through on.

Anyhow, the message is if you love something, don't put off pursuing it, especially if it's beautiful and has a captivating accent.

Slán agus beannacht!
